Alaska's gutter systems deal with a challenge most of the country never sees: heavy snow load combined with repeated freeze-thaw cycles that create thick ice dams along the roofline. Seamless aluminum gutters, sized and pitched correctly, help move meltwater off the roof before it refreezes at the eaves. In coastal towns like Juneau and Ketchikan, near-constant rain year-round means gutter capacity matters even more than snow load. Interior Alaska, around Fairbanks, sees the opposite extreme with brutal cold snaps that make gutter material choice (and proper anchoring) especially important.
